Computer Vision with MATLAB

Required Toolboxes

Before we begin, there are a few apps we will need to install in order to use computer vision and your webcam within MATLAB.

• Computer Vision Toolbox
• Image Processing Toolbox
• MATLAB Support Package for USB Webcams (if using webcam input)

Downloading Required Apps

1. First, navigate to the “Get More Apps” icon under the App tab at the top of the screen.

1. Once you click on this icon, it will open the add-on explorer (this may take a moment). Locate the search bar, it says “Search for add-ons”.
2. Here, search for each of the previously mentioned add ons. In this example, we will be downloading the Computer Vision Toolbox, but the process is identical for all the apps in the list.

1. Once you enter in the add-on you want to download, select it from the list. This will open the page for this add-on, on this page select “Install”.

1. This prompts a “Confirms Selections” page to pop up. Select the blue “Next” button.
2. You will then see a “License Agreements” page, select “I Accept”.
3. Lastly you will see a “Ready to Install” page informing you that MATLAB needs to shut down in order to install the add-on. Select “Install”.
4. You may be prompted to allow MATLAB to make changes on your device, if so, select “Yes”.
